Story line: Two dumpster diving trans best friends come across a hitchhiking robot who is a lesson in human kindness, and the three go on a journey in an unkind world.

SEEKING:

[KAT] 20 something transgender woman.
Must be an actual transgender woman.
All ethnicities. Kat is a free spirit. She left home, and she has been transient for the last few months. She has holes in her recent work history, and she struggles to find a stable spot to stay. She dumpster dives, true to her counter cultural roots.

[WILLOW] 20 something transgender woman.
Must be an actual transgender woman.
All ethnicities. Willow is Kat’s best friend. She is more grounded, and she does her best to temper Kat’s eccentricities. Willow’s stable living situation and family acceptance is a source of tension for Kat. Willow recently went through a tough breakup.
MUST HAVE VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE.

Rate: Short Project Agreement Pay: $125 +10% per day – Production will provide per diem, transportation to/from Philadelphia, meals and accommodations.

Writer/Director Bio: Iris Devins is a writer, director, and producer. The Sundance Institute selected her to participate in the Screenwriters Intensive, and she was a 2017 Sundance Knight Fellow. The Leeway Foundation awarded her with a 2018 Transformation Award. She recently finished a festival run with her narrative short, “After the Date”. The film portrays a romance between a trans woman and a straight man. “After the Date” premiered at Frameline in 2017, and later screened at festivals such as Hollyshorts, Athens International Film + Video Festival, Mammoth Film Festival, and Portland Film Festival.

Iris received funding from the Leeway Foundation Art and Change Grant for her upcoming short, “Trashy Booty”. The film is a dark comedy about two dumpster diving trans women who find a hitchhiking robot in the outskirts of Philadelphia. She is currently developing her first narrative feature, “Angie Star”. The film is supported by a grant from the Sundance Institute with additional support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Iris completed her MFA in Film and Media Arts at Temple University. She works as a freelance filmmaker and film instructor.
